About Melissa

Pronouns: She/Her

Hi, I’m Melissa! My journey into mental health started at UNC Chapel Hill, where I studied psychology and religious studies, sparking my passion for understanding the human mind and spirit. This path led me to earn my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UNC Charlotte. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with people of all ages, including leading both group and individual therapy sessions in an intensive outpatient eating disorder facility.

I’m particularly passionate about helping people make sense of their pasts, especially when it comes to healing from religious trauma. I use evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to work with my clients on setting and achieving their goals. My approach is collaborative, focusing on creating a personalized plan that meets each person where they are.

Therapy with me is about more than just reaching goals. I believe in the importance of fostering self-compassion and embracing authenticity. My aim is to create a space where you feel completely safe and comfortable bringing your whole self into the room, knowing you’ll be met with empathy, understanding, and absolutely no judgment.
