Hello I’m Sohail, a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in Colorado and it would be an honor to be a part of your journey towards integration and better mental health. I speak English and Spanish in my sessions and I can speak conversational Hindi / Urdu.
I incorporate Gestalt therapeutic interventions in my approach as well as Person-Centered approaches because I believe that YOU are the expert in your life. I have a belief that you have all the tools needed to meet your full potential. It is just my job to help you experience and tap into these hidden tools through power of Integrative approach to tap into areas within yourself you may not have noticed.
In my practice, I utilize techniques to assist you in better integration, contact and intuition with self as well as unfinished business from the past. I specialize in bringing awareness of how intensely mental health symptoms affect all areas of life. Through this awareness, we can build the motivation to re- connect with ourselves and our communities. The world is built on relational connection.
I received my Master’s in Arts from the University of District of Columbia, which is also an HBCU. I first started working as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor assisting teenagers and young adults with disabilities find work. I noticed that many of those I worked with struggled with internal barriers that kept many to achieve their full potential. As a result of this experience, it inspired me to work in Therapy. My experience includes my work in Crisis, In-Home Care & Integrated Care.
I value my work with individuals from BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and Disability communities as this work is transformational. Culture can encompass many aspects including race/ethnicity, socio-economic status, disability, spirituality, sexual orientation, life experiences, gender identity & expression, and also hobbies (Yes, even Nerd Culture is Culture). Regardless of how you identify, I will not only cherish these aspects but assist you in appreciating them as well.
Hablo Español
